So far the Leafs are the biggest losers in the league this season.

#1. The Toronto Maple Leafs has a horrible habit of hiring "no talent thugs". They're really good in a hockey fight (yeah!), but they suck at actually scoring a goal.
#2. The Leafs star goalie, Vesa Toskala took part in 22 wins, 17 losses, 11 overtime losses and 1 shut out during the 2008-09 season. So that is (overall) 22 wins to 28 losses. For the star goalie, don't you think the Leafs could do better? They are after all the wealthiest hockey franchise in North America (valued at $448 million), they should be able to afford a goalie who can block more potential goals.
#3. Last season the Leafs won 34 times and lost 48 times (including overtime losses).
#4. Goals wise the Leafs have only made 13 goals so far in 5 games this season. Thats 2.66 goals per game. During the 2008-09 season they scored 250 goals in 82 games. Thats an average of only 3.08 goals per game, a number so low they didn't even make the playoffs. In fact they haven't made it to the playoffs since the 2003-04 season.
You'd think that for the most profitable team in the NHL they could afford to get some good players who could actually win games.
On the other hand if you check their fight history, the Toronto Maple Leafs had quite a few fights in the 2008-09 season.
