CANADA - The federal government has established a new website so Canadians can track how their stimulus dollars are being spent. The new website (ActionPlan.gc.ca) will allow Canadians to track the progress of projects in their community and what projects are being funded.
Opposition parties had demanded transparency as one of the conditions for allowing the government to create a $3 billion emergency fund it can spend quickly after April 1, but Finance Minister Flaherty denied the website was a last minute idea.
On Tuesday, the minister released the first of three progress reports on the two-year $40-billion stimulus spending package.
