CANADA - The Conservative Party of Canada is promising the moon but can't deliver it. Thats the latest response to the Conservative Party's attempts to hold onto power before a vote next Monday that will topple the minority government.
For the opposition parties the "central issue" continues to be the Tories' lack of an economic package of significant new measures to address the failing economy, which Flaherty admits has fallen into a recession, said finance critic John McCallum.
"I still don't think anything has really changed," McCallum (MP for Markam-Unionville) said after Flaherty's news conference.
There's also a growing question of credibility with the Harper government, McCallum explained. "Here we are when they're desperate to save the government and they'll promise us the moon. But when we're promised the moon, I don't think we necessarily believe it."
From the looks of it a Coalition government would be more stable and reliable than Stephen Harper's minority government which is constantly backpedaling and flip flopping on issues.
