The official high could be higher as minute-by-minute results aren't available yet.
The unusual warm spell is not so unusual given the fact Toronto has been experiencing warmer than average weather for the past decade, a change attributed to global warming and climate change."Toronto's weather is becoming more like Boston's, while Boston's is now more like New York City's. All the regions are seeing a shift in their climate," says a climatologist from Environment Canada.
Naysayers of climate change think this is just fluke weather and not part of a pattern, but this is hardly the first time in recent years Toronto has broken a temperature record. In the last 5 years Toronto has broke over 90 one-day temperature records, several hottest month and season records and a warmest year record.
